My name is Brooke Marie Larkin.
I am a 30-year-old female living in Chicagoland, Illinois.

Experience

I started playing piano at the age of 12 (1991) and had loved music long before that. I was in choir every year of school from fourth grade up until I graduated college (Elmhurst). I took lessons on piano for five years and switched to voice in college, also exploring just about every other instrument there is and taking classes in music theory, history, composition, etc. I've been teaching the instrument since 2001, not counting a friend I taught in high school at the age of 15.

Accomplishments

I've placed first twice out of the three piano competitions I took part in, graduated with a BA of Music, and have been in several musical projects and bands throughout the years. Currenly I play keys and sing with InRoads, a professional performing cover band. I have also recordered a few 'basement records' all on my own (available on this site). Other projects include Three Squirrel Theory where I was the lead vocalist and Sven Holds Jive, where I basically took on the role of Ben Folds in a Ben Folds Five cover band. I played bass in that band as well.

Introduction

When I was 12 years old I got a Super Nintendo for X-Mas. No one really knew what games were good so I got a few random ones including Final Fantasy II (or IV if you wanna be Japanese about it). I had never played a game where you read the story like a book and fell in love right away. I also fell in love with the music. I loved it so much that I started to figure out the songs by ear on my tiny 20-key keyboard. While learning 'Theme Of Love' I ran out of keys so I asked my mom if i could get a bigger keyboard. She asked me if I was interested in taking lessons and the rest is history!

I'm not really focusing on my own music anymore. My main goals at the moment are teaching, playing, and attending shows so that I can experience music rather than create it. I have an impressive number of piano students, I'm performing with InRoads regularly, and I'm always up for traveling the states to see fantastic concerts and make great memories (usually involving Ben Folds). I'm also highly active in the Folds community, specifically on The Suburbs.

Moths In My Listerine will continue giving the future of the planet mad hot musical skills.
