"Keep the dream alive but don't keep it 'just a dream'."

So, yup. Got myself a new avatar to use. Go me. Also got a bit of a new blog post format going here with the text all blocked and not paragraph'd and shizer. And... Hm. Didn't really do much else. I've been drawing a lot this past week. I've discovered that I magically lost my talent by mystically not practicing so I now suck at drawing even worse than before which is absolutely astounding. In other news though, as I get back into practice I hope to put up some new drawings soon.

And our band is at an interesting impass but talking about it at this point would be like spreading rumors so I'm just going to wait until I know shit for certain which should happen next week. So here's hoping that everything turns out well.

In other news I need cash. Being broke sucks and rent is fucking due son. It is DUE. Oy.

"What a time to be Kain Vinosec. NOT!"
This is how it all falls down.

So, ouch. Okay. First our drummer can't make it to his first band practice due to complications. Its not his fault but it is kind of a let down.

And then right after I find this out I'm talking to the producer of the K.U. movie and they're gonna go with someone else. I am officially devastated.

"What a time to be Kain Vinosec."
This is how it all falls down.

Vinnie just sent me a message and said he loves the beat I made for him and he's totally gonna use it! I am just drop dead fucking excited about that shit. It gives me a lot of hope for the other stuff I've been working on to hear him say what he said. Vinnie you rock sir!

In other, also exciting news I am supposed to get a call sometime today to go meet up with the director and producer of the K.U. film and talk to them about what they want me to do. I am really looking forward to the opportunity. That's about it! Oh, and my job hates me. Fuckles.

"Pwn'd in the face x2!"
This is how it all falls down.

So I was supposed to be enjoying a day off but I wouldn't let myself do that. Instead I decided to work on and finish that beat for Vinnie Scullo. It's done and you can hear it in the player. It's the first song. Even if Vinnie doesn't accept it then I'll make sure it ends up on Embracing Fate II, as will Embracing Fate and Left Breathless when it is time to compile that album. That is all!

"Pwn'd in the face!"
This is how it all falls down.

Got my entries for the songwriting contest finished up. They include the first four songs in the player and the fifth is still the one for RPGamer. I tell ya writing the two new ones was a pain but they both came out really well. And don't mind that one is called "Embracing Fate". I named it after the Embracing Fate albums, not the website. Hah! Good luck figuring that one out Miss Lopez.

I'm really excited about these contests because I feel I may have a realistic shot at them. So, here's hoping.

Now its time for the best news ever. I have been asked to compose music for a horror movie being made over at Kansas University. So far I've talked to the director and producer and it sounds like a lot of fun. The best part is they mentioned getting paid for the work. Though, I don't care if they're just paying me five bucks, its a chance to compose music for something other than myself. Its gonna be wicked awesome!

And that's about it as far as my news really. Been slaving away at my new job. I don't think it likes me though. Apparently there have been some complaints... Ah well. Also, I think I figured out what I want to do with my future but I'm not sure how soon I will be able to set it in motion. We'll just have to see. That's about it for now.

You don't rush music. Music rushes you.
This is how it all falls down.

First off I have to say that Mike D. is alright and we'll be resuming practices this coming Saturday. Also we'll be interviewing a new drummer and guitarist so hopefully that will be exciting.

Voting is up for the RPGamer contest and can be found here.

My entries for the other contest are coming along smoothly. The contest is for songwriting and the songs apparently need to have lyrics. You're also allowed to enter up to four songs. I've decided to enter old favorites "Taking Out Anger" and "Together, Alone". TOA is the same as the version in the TOA demo that you can download on this page. No changes are being made to it. However I did record a new version of Together, Alone just for this contest and it sounds pretty cool. Check it out in the music player over to your left. The other two songs are going to be new ones. One of which, is already in the works. Its going to be a (presumably) college rock love song about Fry and Leela's relationship from Futurama. However it won't actually mention Fry or Leela directly for certain legal reasons, but I'll make sure to put some kind of Futurama references in there for you diehards like I've done with some of my Final Fantasy based songs (such as Together, Alone). The fourth song I'm still kinda clueless on, but I'll have both of the new ones up on the page as soon as I get 'em done.

In other news I have a job now! I'm cleaning the second floor of an office building Sun-Thur for about three hours a night. Best part? I get to go in whenever I want as long as its after 5:30p.m. Its nice to have freedom. Also I've got a meeting with a Professor over at Kansas University to see what to do about my future and what K.U. may be able to offer me as far as a degree or something. My thoughts are on getting a B.M. in Composition so I can have a piece of paper that says I'm a composer instead of just claiming it without reason. However that may not be the best plan for me and there might be other options available. Which is why I'm meeting the Professor. Anyway, it'd mean a lot of work if that is the course that is going to be laid out for me. Here's to not knowing!

On the reverse side of the fence (I just made that up because I've already used "in other news") my friend Brooke and I are working on some songs for her to perform. For right now, the plan is for me to write a bunch of melodies and things and she's going to turn them into actual songs that she can perform. I've done the first one so far and she seems to like it, so hopefully it'll progress from there. I don't know if she's going to do recordings of the songs or not, but if she does I'll make sure to post 'em up here.

This is the day shit went down.
This is how it all falls down.

So, very bad news about Mike D. (singer for Kain & Able for those of you that don't remember). He's had some shit go down that I won't talk about because its personal but here's hoping that he's okay and everything is good and works out.

In other news, not much else to report. Get better soon Mike!

This is the day I was still broke.
This is how it all falls down.

Finished the album overviews in the 'writings' section of the site just incase anyone wanted to learn some more about the albums I've got up. Also finished my entry for Round 4 of RPGamer's contest. The goal was to arrange a song from the SaGa games as a Black Mages piece. The song I submitted was the final battle from Final Fantasy Legend, entitled; Furious Battle. My version is called Furiousity and you can have a listen to it here as its the first song in the player to the left.

Aside from that, my brother and his fam are in town so I'm hoping to see them a bit. Got band practice tomorrow and... That's really about it for now.

This is the day I was broke again.
This is how it all falls down.

After a whole week, lets see where things are.

After taking my break on The Championship Battles I tried to start it up again and the song I wrote, while better than the last version (this is the song I realized I had lost it on, came up with a completely different version) it still just isn't up to par. This one will probably end up on Embracing Fate II though. I've got ideas, but I can't seem to form them for some reason.

I have, in the past three days, reformatted and reinstalled Windows XP a total of five times on the same computer due to errors and driver malfunctions. I'm just now getting everything back into operating order and getting my programs back up so that I can continue working on things. So far its doing okay.

I've decided to take a bit of a hiatus from The Championship Battles for awhile to focus on other projects. Namely, there is a contest on RPGamer.com to become "Resident ReMixer" and while its not like, the best of things to do, it'd be something helpful on a resume to be labeled as "contest winner" and "staff musician" even without pay. Plus it'd give me a reason to do some kick ass video game remixes. Which the first song I'm going to do is. The rules say it has to be a SaGa series song in the style of The Black Mages. I've chosen the final battle song from Final Fantasy Legend. Should be intense. I'll post it up here when I get it done. Deadline is October 15th.

I still need to do the beat for Vinnie. Curse the timing of these things. I dunno when his deadline is.

I JUST found out about a local contest as well. Songwriting, first prize is $500 and some studio time. The money would be nice, but there is a $12.50 entry fee (you can enter four songs at $12.50 each) which I may not be able to come up with. Maybe two songs, but I don't think I could get the scratch for all four. The deadline is October 29th.

In non-music news I totally got a bit of a haircut and re-died it black. I dunno how it looks, but its comfortable as hell and I rather enjoy it quite a bit. Also I may be playing guitar in Kain And Able from now on instead of playing bass. We'll see come this weekend.

That's about it for now. I'll post some new stuff up sooner or later. Basically whenever I can get a break from all the songwriting I have to do. Oy.

This is the day I rocked you.
This is how it all falls down.

Site updates: Gallery (all), Drawings (all), Writings (new), Archives (new). Forums still not being used by anyone... Come on people. Get lively!

In other news, I haven't worked on music all week. I think I'm kinda disappointed in myself for not finishing The Championship Battles in the timeframe I was shooting for. I'm just kind of turned off of the idea of going on with it now. But, I will and it will be done. Just gonna take awhile longer.

Also been playing Front Mission 3 a lot. That game rocks. So much better than Front Mission 4 man. So much better... In the coming days I'm hoping to finish that game, and get started on Legend Of Dragoon (for like the billionth time... Still haven't beat it though). And that pretty much covers it for video game news.

Kain & Able seems to be doing okay so far. Hitting a bit of a rocky point with our inability to find a drummer and the lack of practice time for Kevin. Which is totally understandable but sucks nonetheless.

And again in other news I'm hoping to get some new pictures up for the gallery pretty soon and hopefully a new default pic (maybe even a new avatar for my news posts and posts in the forums). Finally got my camera back so I'm really looking forward to doing some work with that. And though it may not happen relatively soon, I really really want to get some new videos up and get rid of those old Chocobo Session vids. Fun though they are, I just feel like I need something different to represent myself in a previously recorded setting.

I think that about covers it. I missed the Anime Club meeting over at K.U. today. That sucked. Speaking of missing things, I also miss Saint Drizzew. I mean, what the fuck man? Stop doin' stuff all the time. You're makin' me look bad. I really need to work on finding a source of income. And a girlfriend. Damnit.
